We’ve all heard the old adage, “the days are long, but the years are short.” These days can be busy, messy, exhausting, filled with activity, and demanding schedules. They can also be beautiful, awe filled, full of laughter and so much joy! And one thing is certain, it goes by quickly! But, the thing that brings me abundant joy in my portrait work, is that I can help my clients slow down and savor the good gifts in this season of life. In a sense, to slow down time by documenting some of life’s greater moments a well as the seemingly small ones. When I think about the heart behind our work as it relates to portrait photography, I think about the simple act of paying attention. In one of my favorite books, The Artist’s Way, the author says “The quality of life is in proportion, always, to the capacity for delight. The capacity for delight is the gift of paying attention.” I think there is no greater gift that I could give myself and those around me than the gift of paying attention. This mindset is what inspires me to continue to document families throughout all the seasons of their lives. I love coming into people’s homes and paying attention. There is great joy in seeing these little moments and helping preserve them for my clients, so that they can savor them for years to come. So whether your kids are grown or just learning to walk, this is a time to remember – let’s document it!

We had the pleasure of having A&G work their magic on our engagement and wedding pictures back in 2017. When I became pregnant in 2018, I knew I wanted to ask Amanda to shoot our maternity and newborn pictures! Amanda was not only thrilled for our news, but was incredibly excited to help make my maternity dreams come true! The weather was a little overcast and slightly chilly, but in true Amanda spirit, she made it as if it was the most perfect day. We were blessed with the most amazing colors and an empty beach to capture everything I had hoped for while being pregnant with our sweet baby. The pictures were incredible! When our little Luke was a month and a half, A&G made the journey to our home in SC. Amanda was incredibly calm and patient with Luke. Some of his fussy pictures actually made very sweet moments and she had an incredible ability to make you forget that she is there for “work,” but rather just a friend who is there for a special visit. She did a remarkable job making me feel beautiful as a new mommy!
